Battered, Bruised but Not Broken
An overcomers story amid domestic violence.
Despina Marie's story of survival is riveting.
Excerpt: I was physically assaulted by someone who claimed to love me more than life itself. Not only was I assaulted but I was humiliated and dehumanized. As I lay on the ground that bitterly cold night, I realized that my life had run amuck. Twenty-three years of lies. My heart, my desire, the one to whom I committed my unfeigned love betrayed me by literally throwing me out of the home that I worked alongside him to build. My clothes were tattered from being pulled. My body was battered and bruised after being thrown through a metal and glass door along with the full impact of hitting the icy cold concrete. So traumatic was the event that I lay there motionless for what seemed like an eternity.
